ALT
teamed with Winstar Communications in its
OSS network build-out. ALT’s 3 teams
managed, and deployed network expansion project
of 229 hub sites nationwide, in 20 months.
ALT was required to tap into a variety
of talents and skills to assist Winstar
in producing results. This included developing
solutions for monitoring devices with RS-232
interfaces using terminal server products
with SNMP capabilities, providing second-
and third-tier support for network operations
center on an as-needed basis, and coordinating
the delivery and turn-up of POTS lines,
ISDN service, T1 and DS-3 circuits.
Upon the completion of each site, ALT produced
full documentation, indicating the full
complement of equipment installed, mappings
of patch panels, and detail circuit connection
information.
This
documentation was used by the NOC in troubleshooting
connectivity issues. Additionally, when
requested, ALT provided additional troubleshooting
expertise and assistance to the NOC to resolve
difficult issues.
